937 Strategy Group started as a health care advisory firm after the passage and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. That is still a crucial part of what we do: helping government and healthcare organizations improve and innovate our fragmented healthcare systems. In 2016, we found that organizations in other sectors could also benefit from our elite and innovative expertise. Anton Gunn is the Founder & President of 937 Strategy Group. He is a former senior advisor to President Barack Obama and a national expert on Workplace Injustice. He has a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina and was a Resident Fellow at Harvard. He is the bestselling author of The Presidential Principles and has been featured in TIME magazine, the Wall St Journal, INC Magazine, BBC, NPR, and Good Morning America. In 2021, Anton was named one of the Ten Most Influential Minority Executives in Healthcare by Fierce Healthcare.
As an international speaker and consultant, he has worked with organizations like Mercedes-Benz, KPMG, Vanderbilt Health, Sodexo, Verizon Wireless, Aetna, T-Mobile, American College of Surgeons, Blue Shield of California, and the Boeing Company.
From playing SEC Football and being the first African American in history elected to the SC legislature from his district early in his career to now working as a leadership development consultant and serving on multiple boards, he has spent his life helping people build diverse, high-performing teams, and world-class leadership culture.
Before founding the 937 Strategy Group, Anton was a state legislator and federal policymaker playing a leadership role in many important issues. Previously, he served as one of President Barack Obama’s top spokesmen on the Affordable Care Act. Anton helped the President and Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, deliver critical information during one of the most disruptive and transformational times in United States history. Anton also served as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2009-2011, becoming the first African American in South Carolina history to represent House District 79.
